ARTIST STATEMENT
This is a very surrealistic approach to one of Shakespeare's classics. Really honing in on this dream the lovers have by placing them in a magical forest. Starting off in Egeus's Palace filled with larger than life Greek statues along with borders and hard legs that fly in and out. Transitioning to the forest, blue portals fly in along with a translucent backdrop of the forest. These statues are on tracks and move during the transition while fairy trees are revealed from behind the palace legs. The red carpet from the palace reveals this dirt pile that stems from the translucent backdrop giving an illusion that the forest goes on forever. Fairies emerge from behind these trees and statues. Props are brought on and off stage during blackouts such as, Titania's bower which is represented by an over sized birds nest.
